How is your service fully encrypted?
5G: We protect your data with strong encryption methods. When your data is being sent, we use AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) 256 or TLS (Transport Layer Security) 1.2 encryption to secure it. For stored data, we use AES 256 encryption. We follow strict guidelines to ensure that the keys, algorithms, and techniques we use provide the best possible security for your data.
REALLY DeWi: For our DeWi network we match those standards of AES256 for data in transit and AES256 for data at rest. We also provide Application-Level Encryption for full end-to-end encryption. Additionally we store very minimal data, only network health metrics
What is actually encrypted? What is protected?
Calls and data traffic between your phone and the network, as well as improvements at the application level to encrypt what the user is accessing as well as apps accessing the Internet.
This means that both its signaling and user data are protected against eavesdropping and tampering. REALLY’s enhanced security relies on strong encryption algorithms, as well as mutual identification mechanisms, so that mobile phone calls or data connections would be securely encrypted over a network.
Who exactly does this encrypt our phone calls from?
Our mobile devices are a part of our daily lives and connected to everything that is important to us digitally. But without us knowing, these phones have quietly shared our location, identity, and conversations to nearby cell towers. These towers link to a global network, sharing our personal data with telcos worldwide. This information can then be accessed by advertisers, authorities, or hackers looking to exploit that information. At REALLY, we’re building a network that gives our customers the freedom to secure and private communication.
How do you protect my information from the government?
REALLY must comply with CALEA requirements, and we take public safety very seriously. We recognize the important role of law enforcement for a functioning society. CALEA, the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act, and similar standards around the world, allow for lawful telecommunications intercept. We will answer lawful requests with the information that we have. If we don’t have that information stored, we can’t disclose it.
How are you more encrypted than everyone else?
Currently, mobile operators use native 4G/5G encryption (physical layer where data is transmitted - over the air to the tower and the network trunk via cable to the data centers) but not at the application layer to the Internet (the apps users access online). Our end-to-end VPN addresses this, ensuring no one intercepts your access when using the application.
Additionally, when you access the Internet, there are sites that track your visit, collecting sensitive data via DNS lookup. To address this, we are also building an extra privacy protection layer at the application layer to prevent undue collection of sensitive data when you visit certain websites.
How does encryption work overseas?
REALLY prioritizes roaming partnerships that employ the same level of security as our network, but we cannot guarantee the same levels of encryption as it is dependent on our roaming partner/carrier’s network.
Do both parties have to have the REALLY plan to have an encrypted phone call?
No, your calls will be encrypted regardless as per the global 3GPP standardization specifications for 4G.
Will all my calls, texts and data be encrypted? Regardless of who I text or call?
REALLY’s encryption will be applied for all data transmission. If you’re wanting to have added layers of protection between users, we would recommend using a platform like Signal for messaging.
What records do you keep?
REALLY is required to comply with CALEA requirements, which means that we must keep record of numbers called and received.
We reimagined what a wireless carrier should look like, from the business model to the service and product. It starts with a model based on privacy and security. We’re designing our technical architecture with anonymity in mind so we cannot see who or what is happening on our network. We don’t sell location data, or call information or browsing preferences to data brokers. We’re building a suite of additional tools like AI powered privacy assistants and full encryption & security features that millions of consumers currently pay for separately. That’s all included with REALLY phone plans.
